Home delivery of banking services: According to a directive by the Reserve Bank of India (RBI), banks have been advised to provide banking services such as pick up of cash, pick up of instruments, delivery of demand drafts, delivery of cash and cheque book right at the doorstep of senior citizens of more than 70 years of age.
Dedicated counters: As per the RBI notification, dedicated counters, catering exclusively to senior citizens, specially-abled, should be set up in every bank to provide banking services to them.
Auto conversion of fully KYC-compliant account status into senior citizen account: On the basis of the proof of date of birth in the bank’s records, the bank should convert a fully KYC-compliant account into a senior citizen account. Opening a savings account couldn’t be easier!
Cheque book facility: In case an elder requests for opening a savings account, they should be provided with a cheque book with a minimum of 15 cheque leaves free of cost every year.
So, in case you want to open a savings account, you don’t have to worry about the cheque book as it will be provided to you free of cost.
Life certificate submission: Under the Jeevan Praman Scheme, as per the guidelines issued by the Department of Government and Bank Accounts, a physical life certificate can be submitted by the pensioner at any branch of the bank. The facility of a Digital Life Certificate is also available.
