Working as an attendant at home, Rachna is doing a shift of 8pm – 8am. There have been relaxations provided by the government but a month back, things were very different. Apart from movement restrictions, no public transport was plying on roads. In such a situation, Rachna had to ensure that she is able to provide home nursing services to the elder without any hindrance. What did she do? Well, she decided to cover the distance of around 7 kilometers on feet to ensure aunty is provided nursing at home.
Yes, in a telephonic conversation with us, she told us, “Right after the lockdown was announced, i.e. March 23 onwards, I started walking to the elder’s place. It used to take me around 2 hours from one side. So it would take around 4 hours to and fro. It’s only since last week when the buses started plying that I started taking bus. But for almost two months, walking was my mode of transport to aunty’s place.”
